German label manufacturer Herma is all set to launch a new splicer that allows uninterrupted production and is compatible with all formats. The splicer operates without a knife or similar cutting tool.

Herma head of labeling machines Martin Kühl said the slicer focuses on reliable adhesion between the end of one roll and the start of the next and the splice is executed quickly in a short span of time.

"This enables us significantly to enhance the smooth running of both the web and the labelling process. These characteristics are important for users who attach high priority to minimising interruptions to the production process," Kühl added.

According to the company, the autonomous system can simply be retrofitted to the company's existing labeling systems based on the requirement. It can also report execution of the splicing operation to a higher-level system.

The system uses conventional industrial adhesive tape and enables users to integrate it in the high-speed production environments for which the Herma 400 labeler is intended.
