Apple Moves Like Lightning to Kill First Bug of Headphone Jack-Free Era

The transition to an iPhone 7 handset free of the traditional headphone jack hasn’t gone as smoothly as Apple had hoped.

The company has today released an iOS 10 update to remedy a widely-reported issue that caused the physical controls on Lightning headphones to shut off during periods of inactivity.

10.0.2 is now available for download, just a couple of days after Apple vowed to fix the problem (via The Verge).

Elsewhere in this minor update are fixes for issues that affected iCloud Photo Library.

After a slight snafu with the first adopters experiencing bricked devices during the first hour or so of release, the iOS 10 launch has been pretty smooth thus far.

iOS 10.1 was released to beta testers last week, showing off for the first time the new portrait photo mode for the iPhone 7 Plus
